Lemon Media is a web development studio in Johannesburg. We started in 2014 building websites for small South African businesses, and we still do, alongside learning platforms, booking systems, client portals and online stores that ship internationally.
What hasn't changed is how we work. You get a fixed quote off a clear scope, the same people from first call to handover, and full ownership of everything we build. No retainer you can't leave, no logins we quietly keep hold of.

We don't do marketing retainers or logo design. We build and maintain the technical side of your business online, which is the part that's hardest to replace.

How a project runs
We start with your specification: what the site has to do, who it's for and what success looks like. If you don't have one yet, we'll help you write it. You get a fixed quote off the back of it, valid for ten working days.
Layouts and user journeys before a line of production code. You review, we refine. Three rounds of revisions per page are included as standard, so nobody is counting changes in bad faith.
Development against the approved design: responsive, accessible, and tested on real devices rather than a browser resize. Speed and security go in here, not as an afterthought.
We put the site live, hand over every credential, and walk your team through running it. Then you have two working days to flag anything before we call it done.
We pick the stack that fits the job and that you'll be able to hire for later, not whatever is trending this quarter.

Hosting and business email run through our own platform, so when something needs fixing there is nobody to pass you between. One number, one team.

Most projects go live within two to three weeks. The real variable is content: the sooner you get us your copy and images, the sooner we finish. If you're working to a hard deadline, tell us upfront and we'll tell you honestly whether it's achievable.
Every project is quoted individually once we've seen your specification, so you get a fixed figure rather than a range that moves later. A 50% deposit starts the work and the balance is due before handover. Quotes stay valid for ten working days.
No. Almost every project we run is handled remotely over email, WhatsApp and calls, with design drafts shared on a private staging server. We're based in Johannesburg and work with clients across South Africa and abroad.
Text in a document (Word, Google Docs, anything editable) and images at the highest resolution you have. Avoid sending images already embedded in a PDF or Word file, as that strips the quality out of them.
Get in touch straight away. We remove the malware, find and close the way in, restore clean files and harden the site so it's harder to break into again. Sites we look after on a maintenance retainer are checked every day, so problems are usually caught before your customers see them.
Yes. We build on systems you can manage, and we train your team at handover. If you'd rather not touch it, we offer a maintenance plan where we handle updates and take responsibility if anything breaks.
Yes, through our hosting arm. It covers LiteSpeed hosting, free SSL, custom-domain email and support from the same people who built your site, so there's no finger-pointing between host and developer.
